When I install the NVidia drivers I do a custom install. I do hope that you can find some help to improve things, maybe eye candy settings etc, but I'm not sure you are in the same situation as many of us, although I'm a while of hitting 100,000k as yet.
I reckon that by the time that I get to 100,000 plus my system would be feeling the strain. Now that I have got to 50,000 on that city my CPU and GPU fans are getting louder as they are being cranked up and I can "feel" the sluggishness start a little, traffic can be a little jumpy at times as well. One reason as to why I stopped using too many assets, mine are mainly road junctions and roundabouts now, and themes etc is not just due to the excessive loading times but my later city games would just crawl to a stop.Ī screenshot that I take doesn't tell you how "fluid" the game is running. there might be other suggestions that people might be able to offer. Too many junction changes, apply advanced AI and lane restrictions and changes etc and that seems to slow the game down as the city gets bigger.

I use a few mods but I have to be careful on how I use, for example, TMPE. When I zoom in both loads go up and the FPS goes from 60 to around 40. I was quite zoomed out and yet my GPU ( a newer generation than your as well, was being pushed to 46% load. The screen is stationary when that was taken, no movement panning. Not suggesting that is worth paying for but each component changed reduces one bottleneck, albeit costly to do so. When I updated my GTX970 to a 1070 it did make a difference. The city that I am playing at the moment has 50,000 living in it and uses over 5GB of GPU memory, your card only has 4GB.! I have seen it use more than 6GB of GPU memory. My CPU (not sure if the i7 over the i5 might help) is 1Ghz faster and the GPU has 4GB more of memory.

My PC specs are quite a bit different than yours. I reckon you are pushing your system near to the max with your spec and the size of that city. You note a population of 100-120k and your performance falls drastically and your CPU maxes out. You don't mention what your eye candy game settings are, as they can have a big impact on how it performs. GTX 1070 with 8GB of DDR5 memory and resolution of 2560x1440. I thought by posting here you might get a response other than just mine to validate or not what is offered.
